It is a copy of Rembrandt's famous painting The Night Watch (also known under the name the crew of Captain Frans Banning Cocq and Willem van Ruytenburcha preparing to march) . Today, widespread name got the picture, because dark paint, which was provided in the 18th century. The paint in the first half of the 20th century removed.
This good copy is particularly significant because it captures the image portions which were used in the installation of the Amsterdam City Hall cut (left part and the upper part). In the foreground in the picture below we can see the black-clad captain as talks with his officer.
